The Lord’s Club Lesson for March 6, 2016
The Four Steps. Second Step: Stir the hearts of the Unbelievers
-Let’s review what we learned last week:
There are three main things we need to know how to witness people. When we witness, we need to trust the Holy Ghost to do His work. 3 things we need to know.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
This means we need to show the light. Point the way to God. How? Explain to them about God. About Jesus Christ.
2. Stir the hearts of the Unbelievers. This is the same as if we perched into their hearts.(heart)
Acts 2:37 KJV-
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
This means we need to stir their hearts. Throw a “wrench” in their hearts and minds. Let them get confused but do not make them confused forever. Throw it in then lead them OUT of that mess in their lives. Talk about their lives. Where they are going. Why they are going to a very unpleasant place. Then show them John 3:16, Eph. 2:8-9, etc. Best way is more of a story telling method than biblical verses because with Bible they will clearly slam the door shut completely.
Story telling is effective. Jesus used more of stories than a lot of verses. If you know the gospel, it works.
3. Move the will of the Unbelievers. Like the prodigal son. He returned. (Spirit or can be mouth/confess).
Luke 15:18 KJV-
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
This one explains then they need to confess their sins, ask for forgiveness, surrender, and proclaim Jesus is Lord and Savior and prayer for salvation with the team.
Invite the newly Saved Christian. Invite to fellowship, reading together once a week or even daily if desired. Matthew 18:20 KJV-
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
OK, what we need to do is review the second step.
Stir the hearts of the Unbelievers. This is the same as if we perched into their hearts. (heart)
Acts 2:37 KJV-
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
We need to stir their hearts so that the unsaved can learn about Jesus Christ through their hearts. They need to listen to their hearts. Like a guy’s heart raced when he is dating his date or new girlfriend? That “wow” factor? We need to do the same but only to them, not to us. Let the Holy Spirit guide our hearts to them. Like a guy just know the right woman is right there, then he moves toward to her. The same we do this and let their hearts get stirred. As they say when you move closer, you make them nervous? Right? We need to tell them about Jesus Christ.
Let’s review verses in Bible about this. Remember first step is to get their mind open! Open then they shall listen. Got to make them listen but not force but be sure they do.
Psalms 140:2 KJV-
2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.
This verse is found in King James. It means what evil thoughts are doing in their hearts, they keep staying together for war (against God). I added against God in this example. This is when their hearts are stirred because they are at war in their hearts and mind! They are saying, “What!? No way! I like my way! But you say I am going to down there?” We need to learn how to witness them by guiding them to Christ, or help steer their lives to Christ. Like a man put woman’s arm around his to walk cross the street. You guide that person. The same we need to help them get out of their war in their hearts. Satan is upset! Yes, very upset because we are seeding in the Truth in their hearts.
We need to do right. This is most important part of witnessing. Stirring their hearts. No more! We will clear the “fog”. Other religions do not clear the way. They plant things that people want. Not what God wants. Like I know of a story about Jehovah’s Witnesses did to a Deaf man in Sacramento, CA as I heard this story from a friend of mine there.
They use people’s weaknesses to lure people to their religion. This is not what Jesus is about. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). This man in CA had no job and quite poor and Jehovah’s Witness saw that opportunity to get him a job IF he would join their cult and he was lured and said, “Yes.” That is when he decided to turn to that religion and got a job. It was not about salvation. This is cult method of mind controlling and heart controlling. Luring like a candy to a little kid or carrot to a donkey or a horse. I am sure Mr. Ed is smarter than that! Hahaha.
WE need to focus on witnessing them ONLY about Jesus Christ. This series is about how we know the function of witnessing.
Do you know what partner you want to work with? Male with male, female with female. That way 2 can assist each other and then work on that one person.
Remember, Satan is attempting to blind that unsaved soul at the same time trying to discredit you. OK.
This is why we need to pair as a team to protect our hearts with prayers before witness AND go together. Before we go on. Lets see why we need to go as a team-
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 KJV-
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
This is why we need to go in pairs when we go witness someone. Clearly said. In verse ten, the other is to help the other. Then both of them to help the unsaved to understand Christ AND after that person get saved, teach for rest of life.
Let’s learn more verses..
Luke 24:32 KJV-
32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
This verse is saying that the apostles of Jesus Christ when Jesus left. They talked to each other wondering and said this question, “Did not our heart burn within..” That is what happened. Their hearts burn within us... the word burn means differently here. It means to set on fire for God. It means kindle here. When you are not saved, you have no fire for God. When you do, you do! You feel awesome in the Lord.
Important we do have the fire. Last week Brad talked about this and he always jumped ahead. He is correct on this. We need to kindle the lost souls hearts on fire. That is how we can stir.
Any of you make bonfires? Or fire in fireplace? Same concept here when you want to stir to get the fire going. If we are going to a campsite this summer where we staying, you will learn how to do a fire in fire pit without need of newspapers! It works.
Anyway, back to the subject. This is same thing we need to do it and let the Holy Ghost start the flame in that person when that person wants to be saved.
They were questioning about Jesus opening their hearts to hear the Scriptures.
We would have to pray first then explain the correct Words to the lost souls.
HOW we can do this? Several ways.
Like I said before with the soft witnessing, soft witnessing is showing the Love of God to them.
There are a few techniques to do so. Soft witnessing is one but there are more.
We also need to do is in forms of Questing their hearts witnessing. That is, the real stirring to make them question their own reason for living on Earth for. Ask them if their religion save them. If you know their religion version of verses such as John 1:1, do by mean ask them then you can show them your bible and verse and the correct transcription of the Bible and the verse about Jesus, God, salvation, etc.
And Action Witnessing. Similar to soft witnessing, this is to show them the Love of God through action. Kindness, giving, etc.
Soft and Action witnessing are indirect while the Questioning their hearts version is direct to stir their hearts. The Questioning is the best form of witnessing in direct approach than doing Bible thumbing.
One time I used the Questioning their hearts witnessing format to a Muslim who was in a Christian chat room and he was saying this or that that his faith is right, blah blah. I quickly let the Holy Spirit guide me and I shut my mouth and witnessed him using questioning approach. This format is to direct what you need to say directly. I questioned that Muslim and it did stirred his heart and made him very nervous. In fact, he said that I made him nervous and left the chat room. People said that I am really filled with the Holy Ghost.
See, the key is the Holy Ghost. LET the Holy Ghost guide you to witness someone. First ask who and be prepared because any day you get someone that you will need to witness to Christ.
Pastor Steve told me that a gun man who questioned a Christian at church and said this question to the victim, “Are you ready to die for Jesus Christ?” and the victim said, “Yes I am but are you ready too?” That stirred the man’s heart. This is the Wrenching Witnessing I am talking about. Throw a hard curveball!
The format of questioning needs to be more of challenging their religion. Not about “Tonight do you know where you going? Up or down?” That is to direct approach. That comes later or last. Make your questioning more like 20 questions. The “Tonight, go up or down” question is the last one. Then set up new questions leading to Christ.
Next time we will study confession. But in next few weeks, we will learn how to witness properly. Last few weeks we learned how to open up someone. Remember, always pray FIRST. Then when the Holy Ghost lead, then open their minds to be clear then questioning or show the Love of God to them through Soft or Action Witnessing.
Cults do not get it. They used candies! Not literally but in forms of functions that brings new members to their cults. For example-jobs, money, even promises that they don’t keep (Muslims say they give promises to give wives and one of those heavens). That is entirely false.
Jehovah Witnesses provides jobs, money, etc. But they will want all that back. INK and Mormons are similar. All forced to give 10 percent. Or punishment.
We need to provide Christ, not lures. They misunderstood the concept of a fisherman Jesus was talking about. Fishers of men means to go witness them spiritually. Not with lures.
One more thing, always pray when witnessing. How, in your heart keep praying for those who are lost and witness them to Christ.
And here is why.
Psalms 140:3-4 KJV-
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.
4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
Remember the verse 2 we read earlier? This is the continuation in context of what it is going on in that chapter. Yes, lost souls will sharpened their tongues. Meaning they will swear, they will say things against you because you are trying to witness them. They will do anything to stop you. Quite poisonous and can try to go through you. Again, go in pairs! This is to help each other to watch out for those lures from evil to destroy you.
Verse 4 explains you need to keep praying while you witness! Very important before you go witness and do it daily because you don’t know what day or hour someone you will meet and witness or even a horrible person with a gun at you. You need to keep saying things to the Lord Jesus Christ. You need to pray to preserve you from evil. Even from unsaved soul because they will resort to anything even violence such as fighting or calling the cops on you. ALWAYS pray before, during, AND after.
**WARNING: You will get rejection from the very same lost souls who reject Jesus Christ.
John 15:18 KJV-
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
For next few weeks, write down where you think it’s best to meet Deaf to witness. And we will explain why it is not good choice or best choice to invite them. Bring your list!! That way we can challenge if it is good or not.
Also for now, please do invite CHRISTIANS to the Lord’s Club so we can teach them how to witness others and we need teams.
