When a friend invites you to a church and you do not know much about that church. There are a few number of churches. I am referring to pseudo-Christian churches and even non-Christian cults. Those churches are not what you want to be involved because they are strictly controlling you and even when you want to leave, or even kick you out, they watches you and oversees you completely. If you bad mouth or even do nothing, they will abuse you. Danger involved yes. They want you to do things that are not Godly such as they will do morally correct you such as you have to do a crime for them. Or they will make you pay this amount of money weekly no matter how much money. They will make you broke.
Often times, those very churches will also want to be involved in politics so they can have everyone under their control. Oligarchy, fascism, and/or even theocratic form of governments.
When a friend tried to invite you or even when you meet someone special especially online, it is easy to tempt you to join their faiths because you have not seen that person. It is better you find your mate in your own church even if there is not any. I recalled in church years ago when I was single and looking. I could not find anybody in the Deaf ministry because the half majority were men my age and the other half were women older than us either they were Seniors or are single moms already divorced or whatsoever. That presented a problem. the right one will come along like Adam had to wait for Eve. Same thing.
But online, you see how pretty she is.. you are tempted to be with her. You then realized she was pulling you to join that church you should not be part of. That is called discernment. You should always pray and fast to be sure she is the right one for you.
Prayers are to talk and ask God for His answers. Fasting is to give up something for a time to show God you mean it. Actions speaks louder than words. First lets read this verse-
1 Corinthians 7:5 KJV
Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
So, you need to be honest and when a friend is defrauding you, you should know better! When you know it after prayers and fasting as the verse said and come together, then you will be stronger and has more knowledge what the Lord has provided you to show your friend why your friend's church is not part of God and show why their doctrine is wrong. You need to have discernment. The Holy Ghost will discern and you will feel it in your heart. If you know something is not right, then do something about it or when you approach someplace and you can feel evil there, leave. Here the verse--
Malachi 3:18 King James
Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
You should know. You should always pray before you talk or see your friend or even someone special or someone you like or your boss or even family members. Another fine verse-
Hebrews 5:14
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
When you know in your heart.. or even in your gut, follow that and you shall know. When I spoke with that friend in 2014, and that friend said to come to this church. I said ok, but I like to know more about it. And my friend kind of refuse to say much. That was a red flag. Then I had to keep asking and asking.. then I had to do my homework myself to find the doctrine of that church and any websites that exposes cults like my friend attends. I read a lot of information, and asked others and some others knew about this church and told me because I told others about it and they concur what I said.
That is called discern between the good and the evil. I attempted to teach according to the verse I said many times:
Matthew 28:19-20 King James
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Did my friend try to teach me anything? Nope. You can tell between a true Christian who will teach and a "Christian" who does not teach. These verses are what we are focusing on this month and next few months. All tied in.
Now, mainstream Christian churches do not recognize pseudo-Christian and non-Christian churches and cults because those cults do not accept the Deity of Jesus Christ. Some even deny the Holy Ghost or even both Jesus and the Holy Ghost. Some uses different names to please their members because they want to be different than mainstream churches or religious organizations. Some of those cults forces you to wear their outfits which is legalism. Even some of those churches have faults and the mainstreams would even accept them.
If you want to understand cults, and how to witness, I highly recommend you find people in your church and form a team or teams. Like visitors' night once a week, do the same but you should know who are part of tough organizations. That way you can witness them. Be strong. Be like a Knight of God. The Knights Templar centuries ago were like that. They even defend Believers traveling to the land where Israel is today. You can be like the Knights Templar in modern days by prayers, teaming up, read your bible together, and then go on visitations. Go help your neighbor especially those involved in cults so that they can see the REAL Jesus in you.
Check out on Facebook every once a while a good tract or information about cults and you shall have understanding and prayers. God bless!
