There will be another New Year. 2016. You may have heard about resolutions. That is part of the world, secular however, you can start your resolution by fasting. If you need something new or change in your life. It can happen at anytime. You can start today if you want to. Of course you may want to start with New Year's because it counts as a new year for you to change something in your life for the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
You see, Jesus wants us to change as the very first thing to do which He himself said it better and first word He said was, Repent. That word, Repent means to change. Forget old ways and set a new.
Matthew 4:17 KJV-
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Jesus is Lord and Savior and first thing He wants you to do is to change. Stop doing what you were doing wrong. That is called sin. You need to stop sinning! And stop bad habits. Smoking, drugs, looking at opposite sex in the wrong way, affairs, bribe someone, those bad habits. Sins such as disobeying God, rebelled against God, created idols, forgetting Sabbath Day (Saturday, not Sunday!), disobeying your parents, etc.
This is the first act God wants to see you change if you want to love Him as said in the Commandments, and John 14:15. Repent is also an act of doing something for the Lord such as obeying His Commandments as I said in John 14:15-
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Jesus Christ said that. That is what repentance means. change your ways, obey God, do what the Lord tells you if you want to be serving Him forever in Heaven.
If you recall that you were children once and your parents told you not to touch the top of the stove with your hands when it is on and hot? Do you remember your parents told you not to fool around in school with the opposite sex and not do it at home while mommy and daddy working? Do you remember to mow the lawn before it gets dark then do your homework tonight? That line your parents has be true. Did you do the dishes? Good, go do your homework was another line..
What does that tells you? Obeying your parents. In fact it IS a Commandment God spoke in Exodus 20: 12 KJV-
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
Your parents wanted to teach you the proper elite of life you are to have responsibility every day when you are are on your own and many of you did. Now you are working, going out on the field to do God's Work in your hometown or away in other countries... Paying bills. Yuck! I know! Hate that!
What does this tells you? You do the same as in John 14:15.
Do that RIGHT NOW. Why wait? You never know when you will go home to be with the Lord or you are gone bye bye forever. Hebrews 9:27 KJV-
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
You do not know how long or when you will pass away. All of us will die. And yes, the judgement. Oh no! That is going to be awful! I did this or that!! I know, I have. I am not perfect. You too, all of us are not perfect.
Like your earthly parents, you have spiritual family as well-Heavenly Father. or God the Father you hear the same.
Repent is also asking God for forgiveness. It is very important you do that because if you do not, God will not forgive you and do not know you! Yes, even to Christians! Boy, you need to get on your knees right now and ask the Lord for forgiveness. Where proof, right here in the Bible! Please read Matthew 6:15 KJV!
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Ohhhh!! That is scary!! Really is! You can not enter the Kingdom of God with sin. You can not even be lukewarm about your life.. meaning both you worship and being your Sunday best sometimes and be different during the week other than Sunday. You can not do that. That is wrong.
Stalwart Believers in Jesus Christ will know and they will serve the Lord properly. They worship God every day and pray daily. And many do fasting.
Let me tell you a story. Back in 1984, I just turned 20 and I wanted to change. Stop with the teen way of lusting on the females and want to grow up. The timing was right so I said I will do that for New Year's by prayer AND FASTING!! That I did not know because I was not even reading my KJV Bible. Only Bible I had was a child's bible that is not quite like what we have in KJV and 1599 Geneva or any others. My goal was to fast by not thinking of women, not talking to women, not do anything with women except for my mom and my sister because they are family. It was successful until January 18th, 1985.. that I was leaving my sister's business in this building that houses many businesses. Well, it was 10 degrees outside at 6pm.. snowing.. A good amount came down already. Not lake-effect snow. Anyway, she came up to me crying and asked if I can fix her tire. I told her to call AAA but after she told me why she needed to fix now and I realized it was important for her to go on her hot date. Yes, she said that. Ha ha. Anyway, I fixed her tire barehanded because it was too difficult for me to do it with gloves on and needed to feel the nuts on the wheel. It was her old Beetle. I recalled it was white. Anyway, all fixed and she thanked me a lot.
I went home and prayed that I felt I failed but I felt I had to do this being a good boy. A good Scout that I held my oath and honor to do my duty. And being a Good Samaritan. I prayed to God for my wife and I would end my fasting because I did not ignore her and I felt it was enough fasting for 18 days. The Lord answered me that I will. I honesty believe in that God will provide me my bride. Again, this was in 1985.
You can and should pray AND FAST. Try that!! 1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV-
Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
So, as you can see, you can pray AND fast. They work best. For your homework, read Genesis chapter 24. That was the chapter I read after I asked the Lord for my bride back in January 18, 1985. That story tells you how the Servant did his role to pray and was sort of fasting.
If you are stalwart Christian, please do your role according to Matthew 28:19-20 that you are to teach all nations including about prayers and fasting as well as about repentance. Be a good role model to others by doing those as well so that they look up to the Lord through you.
My fasting this year is several. One is to go through strong 5 days of juice fasting for diet and health.
Second, not to do anything for anybody on secular side.. meaning for business since I have lost 500 dollars on doing those bottles and jar lights and trying to set up my RV company that I spend thousands of dollars on. And the start of praying for me to do what the Lord wants me to do. As well as to establish new church. And get wisdom from the Lord. Some things I can not say more but The Lord knows because if I say it, tends not to happen. It is true. So, its best I keep it to my chest but also the Lord's.
Please help other Christians by teaching them how to repent as I said often in Matthew 28:19 and 20. Thank you and God bless!! Have a Happy New Year!!!
